The debate over Devonshire Tea!
Over the last two days, I have volunteered to assist the CWA of Victoria during Open House Melbourne. It was wonderful to see so many people take a tour of the fabulous house and gardens, and to chat to those who took the opportunity to partake in Devonshire tea.
We served one generous scone, with jam and cream and a hot drink from 10 am till 4:30 on both days of the weekend. So many people commented "we just had to have a CWA scone". Lots asked for tips and tricks, many bought our recipe books and tea - towels containing the recipe.
What surprised me was the number of people who told me that this wasn't a Devonshire tea, but actually a Cornwall Tea because we put the jam on first and then the cream.
We could all agree however that they were delicious! We even had gluten free scones available for those of us that required it :)
